Artwork Meaning
In many Aboriginal cultures, the kangaroo often symbolises a Warrior — a figure of strength, protection, and responsibility. As a Warrior, this mob represents the hunter and provider, carrying the spirit of courage and care for community.
It’s also important to acknowledge that Aboriginal Australia is made up of over 450+ mobs prior to colonisation, each with their own languages, customs, and cultures — much like the diversity of nations across Europe.
This artwork honours those differences while celebrating shared values of strength, kinship, and identity.
About the Artwork
Mob-made Aboriginal art print featuring Warrior Dreaming by Aunty Lorni Hyland. Originally designed and printed in the 1990s as part of Indigenous Dreamings, my mum’s Aboriginal art and clothing business.
Each print carries the same legacy and cultural meaning as the original 1990s t-shirt design — a piece of Aboriginal art history reimagined for your wall.
