Artwork Meaning
1st Row (Dolphins): In Aboriginal culture, the dolphin is often associated with a human spirit.
2nd Row (Circles): These represent the cycles of life, nature, and community.
3rd Row (Turtles): Symbolising the road of parenthood and survival — reminding us that the journey is not always easy, but it’s one of strength, endurance, and guidance.
This Dreaming honours the connection between saltwater Country, family, and the resilience found in the ocean’s rhythm.
About the Artwork
Mob-made Aboriginal art print featuring Ocean Dreaming by Aunty Lorni Hyland. Originally designed and printed in the 1990s as part of Indigenous Dreamings, my mum’s original Aboriginal art and clothing business.
These prints celebrate cultural storytelling through art and colour — each piece carrying the same meaning and legacy as the original t-shirt design.
